Tamiya Scania 770S 8x4 Heavy Hauler - Part 11 - Rear Light Wiring - 4k
Slowly but surely, the Scania 8x4 S770 V8 is getting there. In this installment I'll be wiring in the rear lights. As you may know, you have to make your own wiring loom for the entire truck. I don't like messy wiring and this is really testing my patience. It would have been much easier to install the Tamiya MFC-03.

    Thank you, Teri.... I'm having to tell myself over and over again "POSITIVE COMMON! POSITIVE COMMON!" 😂 I really love what you're doing with the SMDs. Much more balanced lighting. I've got multiple packages of SMDs, and I'm going to start integrating those into my builds.... Starting with completely rewiring my Grand Hauler! Always looking forward to more.... but Harriet comes first. Hoping she knocks em dead at her show!! 🎉 .... love the idea of using ribbon as seat belts.

    Why are you not using resisters for each led? You can cause damage to leds ruining them in series, you also cannot guarantee the balance of current. Just be interesting as to why you picked this method over the much more safer route, that you are also then able to fully control the current and voltage to each led but having them in parallel with resister

    I've always ditched the 540 silver can. It draws way too much current, and the Carson lasts longer on one battery. I've been doing this steering mod for 10 years or more now, and I've done better videos, more recently on that subject. 👌

    Power up the trailer lights from the onboard battery (the servo battery) not as you would like but a small switch in the locker could work and be self contained... which could be useful if the trailer is parked alone .. but maybe you have covered this in a future vid .. I will keep looking, otherwise, as always a great job and good progress in the right direction. But the beacons defaulting to on is a bit of a pain, I have the same beacons from Astec and the same functions. but hey oh, not a problem.

    I remember it well, a trip to Intermodellbau makes you feel blessed, it is a place of pilgrimage, as you mentioned, if there is something in any facet of modelling from whatever genre, you can almost always find it at the exhibition, and how impressive and inspiring are the layouts presented, the Dutch contingent seem particularly enthusiastic, but that is a bit unfair the whole place is filled with excitement and enthusiasm for what ever individual delights they desire. A great exhibition to visit. 4 days of joy, oh and a lighter wallet, but worth every minute.

    A great idea with the small circuit board and ribbon cable, another inspiration, and agree that buying a bunch of LED's is worth it, enabling a whole variety of applications. Also agree with Model Lighting Solutions and Astec Models (mentioned previously). Intermodellbau in Dortmund, a modellers joy of an exhibition, I am a Brit but live in Germany so a trip to Dortmund every year in the Spring (when poss) is a must, also in November a trip to Fredrichshaven in November for the Faszinationmodellbau messe. You can buy, (as you know) all the LEDS, cables, hardware, tools, models etc etc, everything from A to Z and an abundance of wonderful models to admire. A place of inspiration and satisfaction to see what's exhibited.

    I feel your frustration Teri. Initial review of your delivery looked super, and in principal it is ... but oh dear, how disappointing when you find the snags. However there is a small silver lining to disassembling everything, you now know what is underneath, you have cleaned and corrected as much as you can (so far - maybe some work for the shock plungers) and now reassembled as required, greased, aligned etc. What else could go wrong (he he) .. Upon completion you have a very competent and functional trailer to complement the truck and add to the Project success ... As with most things in life, patience is truly a virtue, especially with the small details of modelling .. often you are the only one to see the result, but it is those small details that gives an enormous amount of satisfaction and personal pride. Well done

    The trailer appears a perfect fit for Teri Wilde RC and Project Ainscough. A good design & manufacture, maybe not so good assembly, but the attention to detail looks superb. The retractable tie-down points, break drums, bearings, decking, metal spars, etc etc .. what a joy to look forward to, an exciting adventure build continues, well done and thanks as always. The control system for the steering, presumably some sort of potentiometer driving the servo, interesting and a good solution. Look forward to see future development and your thoughts.

    Great video. What does the coupler switch actually do?

    • @TeriWilde
      @TeriWilde 5 днів тому

      The coupler switch reduces power from the MFC to the motor when there's no trailer connected. Full power is only there when a trailer is on. You can bypass this by bridging the connection on J12 on the MFC so you have full power all the time.

    • @jason.bochniak
      @jason.bochniak 5 днів тому

      @@TeriWilde Thanks Teri. I spent hours building it all to find it didn’t do anything when you press the button in the coupler. I carefully took the switch out to find the wires literally fell out of the switch. Maybe I damaged them installing the switch. Just spent hours pulling it all to bits to get the wire out of my extremely tidy loom. I tried touching the wires on the terminals and pressing the white button but still nothing. I have ordered a new compete switch & cable. I hope the MFC isn’t damaged. Everything else worked.

I will re visit my Arocs Tipper to improve my functionality and cable organisation, I like cable management also, but yours is a joy to behold, I am always reluctant to cut the excessively long wires from the MFC, but the time has come .. there is only so much space, and too many bends and pinches are not a good idea. I tried all that you have with the false wall but will have to re-visit inspired by your evident success, albeit my current project is the Arocs Tipper complete with interior.. that's the plan .. Watching this series again.... STILL hoping to get even the cheapest Scania someday..... Anyway, the point. Yes, the MFC does everything easily and reliably.... Most people's main complaint is - NON adjustable sounds. Same with the GT Power. Not everyone is content with their trucks having the SAME engine/horn sound. Being transparent, the sounds you get with a Beier are..... shit! SEGA 80's video game quality. However, with creativity, which I know you have plenty of, you can make a Beier sound like you want it to. Not what you're forced to live with out of the box. Try to understand that. I understand that I have no real opinion of the MFC.... I could never afford one, and the 7 months I actually could, that period between getting my inheritance and my step-kids RIFLING through what was left.... (NOT counting the over $5000 I spent on people who no longer speak to me) The MFC was out of stock in every store in North America!! 😢😢 (Pandemic time) Someday I'd like to try one.

    Bonjour Teri toujours intéressant comme je vous l’ai dit au début de votre projet j’ai fait le 770S6X4 avec le MFC 03 que je contrôle assez bien avec la Flysky FS -I6X depuis que vous nous aviez montré à la programmation en français.Je voudrais refaire le SCANIA comme le vôtre j’essaye de vous suivre avec le peut anglais que je comprends vous parlez de 3volt et de 6volt quand on câble un MFC avec les lumières de Tamiya il n’y a pas de résistance mais quand on en rajoute ce que j’achète de Hobby Consept il sont tous pré câble avec résistance et lui dans c’est vidéo c’est se qu’il fait. Vous allez utiliser un système Beier est que c’est le fillage qui fournit avec et c’est pour cela qu’il n’y a pas de résistance pourriez-vous me dire comment si c’est le système qui fournit la variation de voltage. Et quelle est l’avantage d’utiliser un système Beier je sais que c’est beaucoup de questions mais j’apprends de vous. Merci 🇨🇦

    • @TeriWilde
      @TeriWilde 11 днів тому

      Le Beier est une tension d'alimentation aux LED sans résistances. Les LED sont généralement de 3 V, mais les LED orange de 2 mm sont de 2 V, alors vérifiez toujours les données de la LED que vous utilisez. Le MFC utilise des pilotes LED intégrés, donc aucune résistance supplémentaire n'est nécessaire à moins que vous n'ajoutiez des LED non Tamiya.

      @@michaelrajca6043 you need 4 proportional channels to control a MFC-01 or -03 and have 2 of them with dual rates that control J5 and J6 control leads.

    I got a bunch of teeny SMD LEDs. Used some for dashboard and interior lighting.... but haven't tried them externally yet.... And can't yet fathom lighting on the same scale as YOU'RE doing!!! 😮😮😮😮 The rectangular LEDs, I really need, for Trailer safety lighting, and a few other spots. Ms. Teri.... I am more and more impressed, every video of yours I watch!! 🍺🏆👏👏👏 That Rig might be kicking your arse at certain points, but it WILL be impressive... And lit up like a Christmas tree!!

    Hello Teri, an adventure ahead, I am still catching up on past vids, and have looked forward to following this in particular since seeing your posts all that time ago, as you have said time flies .. I was particularly interested in your tip for removing the chrome from parts, I will try the dishwasher tabs as you suggest. I have tried all sorts of liquids, in pots, bags, sealed, open .. all sorts and never with great success. I have tried to get "Super Clean" as highly recommended by Bob from Hobby Concepts but not available in Europe. I look forward to your tip, well done and thanks and I know this build will be special and super detailed as always, always admire and inspired by your application and enthusiasm.

      if it shuts down when you move the steering then the issue would be the servo. the MFC do not like HV, Hi-Torque and very cheap servos, I always use a standard 4.5kg Futaba servo such as the S3003 or the newer Futaba S-U300.
